The ways we attach in our earliest relationships can impact the way we relate in our adult relationships. I hope that we can create a secure bond in the therapy environment to help you navigate what it feels like in other relationships.
Relational Therapy
Our relationship (client and therapist) is paramount to the effectiveness of therapy. I will use my fully human self in relationship with you, to help you move toward healing. This will mean examining the impact.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
I am trained in MBSR, a technique used to reduce stress, negative feelings and increase your internal peace and calm through meditation and mindful awareness practices.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an evidence based treatment used to reduce the negative impacts of past traumas that are held consciously and unconsciously in our bodies, memories, thoughts and sensations. I weave EMDR into our talk therapy sessions as we both see best fit.
Trauma Informed
I am aware that we hold past experiences from Big ‘T’ traumas (blatant abusive experiences, traumatic incidents to Little ‘t’ traumas (home based misattunements from our family of origin or other important figures in our lives) The result of trauma is dissociation, fragmentation and disconnection. I work to create safety in the therapeutic environment, in our relationship and guide you to create a safer internal world for yourself.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Often things we are unaware of hold us back from strong bonding relationships. Our work in therapy will incorporate understanding how you protect yourself from vulnerability and become aware of underlying beliefs, feelings and thoughts.
